How Consignment Works
Why Finest Kind?
Consignment is common. Execution isn’t.
Our process is built to protect the seller with clear terms, documented condition, and no surprises.

Transparent Terms
Pricing, timeline, and terms are confirmed in writing before intake. You know the structure before anything happens.
You Keep Control
No price cuts, trades, or deal terms without your authorization. Final sale approval stays with you.
Protected Handling
Insured storage and insured shipping, with documented handling from intake to delivery.
Deliverables Stay With You
You receive the professional photo set, verification/diagnostics report, and listing assets. If it doesn’t sell, you keep everything needed to sell privately — you still walk away with value.

Frequently Asked Questions
Consignment means you remain the owner of the watch while Finest Kind markets and sells it on your behalf. Once the watch sells and funds are confirmed, you’re paid based on our agreed payout structure. Learn more about consigning your luxury watch, or begin a consignment applicaiton.
Pricing is set collaboratively based on real market data, recent sales activity, current inventory levels, and the condition/completeness of your specific piece. We’ll provide a recommended listing strategy and target range, then align on the final plan together.
Yes. You maintain final approval. We don’t accept price cuts, deal terms, or trades without your authorization. If an offer comes in below the agreed floor, we’ll present it to you and you decide how to proceed.
Our standard consignment term is 120 days, unless otherwise agreed in writing. If the watch has not sold by the end of the term, you may renew the listing or request the watch be returned.
If your watch does not sell, it is returned to you upon request, in accordance with the consignment agreement.
Additionally, you keep the value we created: your professional photo set, verification/diagnostic documentation (where applicable), and listing assets can be provided so you have everything needed to continue privately if desired.
We use a strict buyer-screening and payment-clearance process designed to minimize fraud and chargeback risk. Watches are released only after confirmed payment clearance and documented closing terms.
Yes — your watch is handled using an insured, security-focused process from intake through delivery. Specific insurance coverage terms and limits are defined in the written consignment agreement.
We will send you a pre-paid, fully-insured shipping label. You will just need to package the watch according to the packaging instructions provided in addition to the label, and take it to the closest appropriate shipping location for drop off.
Every shipment is fully insured for 100% of the quoted value.
We provide a secure, prepaid shipping label and clear packing instructions to ensure your watch is protected from door to door.
You are paid within 5 business days of confirmed payment clearance, unless a different payout schedule is agreed in writing. Payouts are typically made by ACH, bank wire, or check.
No. There’s no need to service your watch before submitting it.
We assess timekeeping and mechanical condition upon arrival. If service is required, we will advise you and make a recommendation to service. Should you approve, we will handle that process for you.
In certain cases, yes. Some qualified buyers may request trade options. If that occurs, we will present the proposal clearly and you decide whether to accept, reject, or counter. No trade terms are accepted without your approval.
We consign watches that meet our quality and marketability standards, with preference toward high-demand luxury brands such as Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Vacheron Constantin, Cartier, Omega, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Richard Mille, Hublot, IWC, Panerai, and strong liquidity models. If your piece isn’t a fit for consignment, we’ll tell you up front and recommend the best alternative path. Request consignment review.
Often, yes. While full sets typically perform best, many watches can still be sold successfully without box and papers depending on brand, reference, year, condition, and pricing strategy. We’ll advise you honestly on market impact. We are able to increase buyer confidence through Finest Kind Certified™ Verification.
We perform professional preparation as needed to maximize buyer confidence and presentation. Any optional refinishing or cosmetic work is only performed if required and approved. We do not over-polish or compromise originality.
Yes. Many clients consign multiple pieces at once. We can coordinate a simplified intake process and manage the entire portfolio under a single communication thread for clarity and speed. Request a consultation.
Both. We sell through trusted platforms and qualified networks that maximize outcomes. Depending on buyer location, the closing may involve insured shipping or a secure in-person handoff. We choose the safest, highest-confidence route for each transaction.
